The Mets followed up blowing an 8-2 lead to the rival Braves last night by laying an egg in Atlanta tonight, losing 7-1 tonight, in a game they were never really in to begin with.
Michael Wacha followed up his strong showing in Boston with an equally bad one tonight, coughing up five runs in the first two innings. He settled down a tad, throwing two scoreless frames after that, but the damage was already done. The Braves tacked on two off of a debuting Franklyn Kilome, who threw four innings in relief to save the bullpen.
Offensively, the Mets threatened a few times, but were ultimately quiet. They loaded the bases twice, but only scored one run for their trouble, when Robinson Cano smoked a line-drive that turned into nothing more than a sacrifice fly. The Mets staged a mini-rally in the 9th, getting two on with two outs, but Pete Alonso lazily flew out to right field to lose their fourth in a row, falling to 3-6 on the campaign.
