The Mets snapped a two-game skid by beating the Nationals with ease, winning 11-6 at Citi Field in the third of four games between the division rivals. Robert Gsellman got the start and gave up three runs in two innings, but Anibal Sanchez was worse for the Nationals as their starter, giving up five runs in two-and-two-thirds innings of work.
While Gsellman gave up all three of his runs in the top of the first, the Mets plated four runs in the bottom of the inning to immediately take the lead. But they really broke things open when they hit three home runs in a five-run bottom of the sixth. The Mets’ bullpen was mostly fine the rest of the way.
Full recap to follow.
