Final Score: Mets 8, Marlins 3 - Fish Fry

A strong bullpen performance, and a big eighth inning, gave the Mets their second win in as many days.

MLB: New York Mets at Miami Marlins Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets day got off to an inauspicious start, as David Peterson was placed on the IL with shoulder fatigue, and Corey Oswalt was thrust into a surprising spot start in the Sunshine state. A strong performance by the bats and bullpen propelled them to an 8-3 win, regardless.

Oswalt was about as solid as anyone could hope for considering the circumstances, tossing 4.1 innings, surrendering five hits and two runs. He looked especially good the first time through the order, and did more than enough to give the Mets bats a chance.

Those bats continued their form from last night, starting with solo shots from Brandon Nimmo and J.D. Davis in the third and fourth innings respectively. Dom Smith continued to be one of the best hitters in the sport, driving in one on a double and a earning a based loaded walk. Amed Rosario had a big day as well, hitting a laser of a homer in the 7th, and breaking the game open with a two run single in the 8th.

Justin Wilson, Jared Hughes, and Dellin Betances 3.2 scoreless innings in relief, though Diaz was shaky in the ninth, allowing three hits and a run before finishing off the fish.

Full recap to follow.
