The Mets dropped a hard fought game against the Blue Jays tonight in Buffalo, losing 3-2. Seth Lugo started for the Mets, and looked more or less fine over the first three innings, but struggled in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, leading to the deciding run scoring off of reliever Chasen Shreve.
Robbie Ray gave up the first Mets run off a double by Jake Marisnick, who left the game with hamstring tightness a few innings later. The Mets scratched out a second run on a J.D. Davis ground out against Julian Merryweather.
Despite putting men on base in every inning from the third to the seventh, the early season issues hitting with runners in scoring position returned tonight. The Mets had a little luck in the top of the ninth, when Amed Rosario reached first base after striking out, with the ball getting away from rookie Alejandro Kirk. But Rosie got caught leaning, and was picked off, after the sixth umpire review of the game, to end the game.
Full recap to follow.
