In a game that lasted over four hours and delivered a roller coaster of emotions in the span of just nine innings, the Mets beat the Phillies by a 10-6 score tonight in Philadelphia. That gave them the series win and pulled them closer to the Phillies and the rest of the National League expanded playoff pack.
Seth Lugo was very bad, but the Mets’ bullpen was very good the rest of the way, bending but not breaking as it put together seven scoreless innings while the Mets completed a comeback—thanks in large part to a two-run, game-tying triple from Brandon Nimmo in the sixth and a solo shot from Nimmo in the ninth—to win.
