Meet the Mets

The second piece of the Mets big trade with Cleveland was introduced on Tuesday, with Carlos “Cookie” Carraso taking questions during his introductory Zoom press conference.

Carrasco let it be known during the press conference that he believes the Mets can be a ‘great’ team, and make it to the playoffs and World Series.

Speaking with Jon Heyman on the Big Time Baseball podcast, Sandy Alderson said the Mets are still engaged with George Springer “in a loose sense”. Meanwhile, writes that four teams, including the Mets, have the most to gain by signing Springer.

Joel Sherman writes the Mets are now in a position to be bold, which includes potentially showing strong interest in Corey Kluber.

As New York City continues to vaccinate more and more people, Citi Field will become one of the biggest vaccine sites in the city beginning on January 25th.

In a press conference with Mayor Bill de Blasio, owner Steve Cohen said it’s very important for Citi Field and the Mets to participate in the vaccination efforts and the organization was willing to help in any way they could.

Also in the press conference, de Blasio praised Cohen for the acquisition of Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco, and Cohen responded saying the trade is a sign of more good things to come.

Led by the Braves and Mets, the NL East is set to have a strong set of starting rotations in 2021.
