On the first game of the last series of the season, the Mets came out swinging against a Braves team that had already clinched. They tallied three runs against Braves starter Huascar Ynoa, with Pete Alonso and James McCann getting RBI hits. Brandon Nimmo hit two home runs, one against Ynoa and one against brand new Braves reliever Spencer Strider. Every Mets starter got a hit except Javy Báez and José Peraza, with Alonso getting three hits in four at-bats, and even starting pitch Megill getting a hit.
The Mets pitching held it together to get a win against their divisional rival. Tylor Megill had one of his better starts of the last month, throwing five innings and holding the Braves to one hit and no runs. Jeurys Familia came in and gave up a run but limited the damage to just the one run. Heath Hembree gave up a home run but got it together after that. Trevor May encountered some trouble but he escaped having only given up one run. Edwin Díaz closed the game for the Mets with a scoreless inning to secure the win for New York.
Full recap to follow.
