Meet the Mets

Many writers speculate the Trevor Bauer sweepstakes is down to two teams, with the Mets the favorites to land the free agent pitcher. The Dodgers are said to be the other team in contention, though many believe the Mets to have the advantage. Some expect an announcement of a deal some time in the next 24 hours.

Joel Sherman shared concerns about Bauer and believes the team would do best offering him nothing longer than a one-year contract.

Reacting to Sandy Alderson’s press conference about Mickey Callaway’s sexual harassment allegations, Deesha Thosar holds men accountable for a widespread culture of misogyny in baseball, writing: “It’s not a woman’s job to answer these questions or fix the problem. It’s the team’s responsibility to foster an environment in which questions like these shouldn’t even have to be asked.”

Anthony DiComo examined the likelihood of contract extensions for Michael Conforto, Francisco Lindor, and Noah Syndergaard amongst other pending free agents.
