Jacob deGrom was fantastic at Citi Field this afternoon, matching his career high with 14 strikeouts while pithing eight innings and throwing 100 miles per hour with ease even at the end of his start, but he gave up one run in the second inning when Jazz Chisholm hit a solo home run against him. And the Marlins tacked on two runs against Edwin Díaz, who got just two outs while struggling in the ninth.
Unfortunately, the Mets did not score any runs at all, as Marlins starter Trevor Rogers was also excellent, striking out ten Mets while pitching six scoreless innings. And the Marlins’ bullpen retired all nine Mets batters it faced.
Full recap to follow.
