Both Michael Conforto and Jeff McNeil will require trips to the injured list for strained hamstrings. The Mets are reportedly calling up OFs Johneshwy Fargas and Kahlil Lee.

Conforto and McNeil both suffered their injuries in an inauspicious series finale against Tampa, thinning an already threadbare New York bench. The Mets could build a decent lineup out of the players currently on the injured list, with J.D. Davis, Brandon Nimmo, Albert Almora Jr., Luis Guillorme, and José Martinez all sidelined. Davis and Nimmo hopefully can be on the mend in the coming weeks, but with Nimmo’s recent setback, it appears that Davis will be the first to return.

Fargas had impressive spring trainings in both 2020 and 2021, even finishing as the runner up in the 2020 King of Spring Training contest, though he did not fare as well in 2021’s KoST.

Lee was acquired in a three-team trade this offseason from the Royals. He was briefly called up last week when Albert Almora Jr was placed on the IL, but did not see any game action.
