With scattered severe thunderstorms set to make their way through New York City this evening, the Mets’ game against the Rockies has been postponed, and the teams will play a doubleheader starting at 12:10 PM EDT on Thursday. As a reminder, seven-inning games are still in effect this year for doubleheaders.
On top of dealing with a slew of injuries this year, the Mets are no strangers to postponements, either. After having their entire first series postponed because of a COVID outbreak on the Nationals’ roster, the team had several games postponed because of weather and has already played several doubleheaders—with more already on the schedule.
Marcus Stroman was slated to start the game tonight, and if there are silver linings here, they are that the game didn’t go through multiple starts and stops and that Stroman has a reasonable chance at going the distance in one of the seven-inning games of the doubleheader tomorrow.
