The Mets beat the Brewers by a 4-2 score in their series opener at Citi Field tonight, as Tylor Megill was fantastic in his third major league start. In five innings, he gave up one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Brandon Woodruff was very good until he wasn’t, as he gave up just a run on a sac fly through six innings of work. But the Mets wore him down and broke through with three runs in the seventh when Pete Alonso singled in two runs to give the Mets the lead and Michael Conforto drove in another.

The bullpen combined to keep the Brewers from coming back, with Aaron Loup, Seth Lugo, and Trevor May throwing a scoreless inning apiece before Edwin Díaz got into a bad situation in the ninth but managed to give up just one run to earn the save.

Full recap to follow.
