The Mets have optioned Robert Stock, who started the second game of the team’s doubleheader against the Brewers on Wednesday, to Triple-A Syracuse, and they have added Nick Tropeano, who was the 27th man for that doubleheader, to their active roster.

Tropeano was a starting pitcher earlier in his career with the Astros and Angels, but his major league appearances over the past couple of seasons have come exclusively in relief. It’s been an extremely limited sample, but in 21.2 innings between his time with the Pirates last year and the Giants this year, he has a 1.25 ERA and 2.82 FIP. The Mets claimed him off waivers from the Giants just shy of a month ago.

Stock was also claimed off waivers by the Mets in June, from the Cubs, and had been pitching in Syracuse until he was called up earlier this week ahead of his start. In four innings, he gave up two runs on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
