Final Score: Giants 8, Mets 0—Belted

Giants rip four home runs off of Tylor Megill in blowout victory over Mets.

MLB: San Francisco Giants at New York Mets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets fell behind the Giants 1-0 two batters into this game when Brandon Belt blasted a ball into the Home Run Apple in dead center. And things would only get worse from there.

The closest the team came to getting back into the game was in the bottom of the first when Francisco Lindor—making his return after missing 37 games with an oblique injury—almost made his return a triumphant one, flying out to the warning track in left.

Meanwhile, the Giants’ assault would continue in the second inning. With one on, Mike Yastrzemski launched a 451-foot blast that almost landed on the Shea Bridge to extend the lead to 3-0.

The Giants would then chase starter Tylor Megill in the fourth with four more runs—including back-to-back home runs by LaMonte Wade Jr. and Belt. By the end of that inning, the Giants had outhit the Mets 12-1— that one hit a double by Megill, held a 7-0 lead, and garbage time had officially begun early at Citi Field.

Full recap to follow.
