Mets Daily Prospect Report, 8/4/21: Even when the news is good, it’s actually bad

Catch up on all the Mets prospects in yesterday’s minor league action!

Brooklyn Cyclones vs Hudson Valley Renegades Set Number: X163621 TK1

*All results from games played on Tuesday, August 3, 2021

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (26-51)

Vance Worley was good and Syracuse still couldn’t win a damn game. The veteran right hander allowed only two runs over seven innings, but the Met offense managed only a paltry three hits and didn’t score a run until the ninth inning. This team is largely bereft of notable prospects (outside of Khalil Lee and, if you squint, Travis Blankenhorn) or strong performers, so there’s nothing further to discuss here.

ROSTER ALERT: CF Wagner Lagrange assigned to Syracuse Mets from Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (32-44)

BINGHAMTON 9, PORTLAND 0 (BOX)

A rare dominant win for the Rumble Ponies, who managed to score nine runs without a home run and twirl a shutout on the other side of the ball. Jose Butto was the star of the game, tossing six scoreless innings and striking out four. Still, it wouldn’t be a Met game without some potential bad news - Mark Vientos departed the game in the fourth inning and was replaced at third base by Yoel Romero. As of midnight on Wednesday morning, no update has been made to his status.

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (30-47)

HUDSON VALLEY 5, BROOKLYN 0 (BOX)

Edgardo Fermin’s second inning single was the only Brooklyn hit in this game so...yeah. Jaylen Palmer had an ugly day in his debut, striking out three times. Ronny Mauricio and Francisco Alvarez went hitless, with the latter drawing a walk. Really not a lot to talk about in this one.

Low-A: St. Lucie Mets (41-37)

POSTPONED (RAIN)

ROSTER ALERT: SS Cesar Berbesi assigned to St. Lucie Mets from FCL Mets.

ROSTER ALERT: LF Rowdey Jordan assigned to St. Lucie Mets.

ROSTER ALERT: SS Kevin Kendall assigned to St. Lucie Mets.

COMPLEX: FCL METS (12-11)
