Final score: Mets 12, Marlins 3—A good sendoff

In what was thankfully the last Mets vs. Marlins game until 2022, the Mets beat Miami 12-3.

Rich Hill started the final game of the year at Citi Field, and was his usual reliable self, pitching five innings, and allowing three runs. He earned his first win as a Met in what was in all likelihood his final start with the team, as the 41-year-old is set to become a free agent after this season.

The Mets’ offense was powered by Michael Conforto, James McCann, and Pete Alonso. Conforto and McCann both drove in two runs, Conforto’s RBI’s coming on a pair of singles, while Alonso hit his 36th home run of the year in the second inning.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Francisco Lindor provided the icing on the cake to the win, hitting a grand slam, his second of the season, and his 20th homer of the season. Pete Alonso followed that up with a two-run homer of his own off of catcher Sandy Leon, who was called on to get the final out of the inning for the Marlins.

Full recap to follow.
