It is time for A Pod of Their Own’s third annual Dollars For Dingers fundraiser! This year all proceeds will go to the National Domestic Violence Hotline (@ndvh) given baseball’s ongoing domestic violence problem and the rise of domestic violence around the country during the pandemic.
Each year we ask that our listeners pledge money for every dinger the Mets hit in the final month of the season. This year we have added another section for bonuses is you would like to add an extra incentive. So far we have bonuses for favorite players, grand slams, strikeouts, manager ejections, earrings, nips, and Busch Lite. Be as creative as you want. The only limit is your imagination! If you are interested in making a pledge add your name to the Google doc and we will keep track of the tally. It is not too late to get involved before the season wraps up on October 3.
It is also not limited to the Mets or the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Your donation could be based on how many dingers another team hits or the money could go to a local women’s shelter of your choosing.
Unfortunately last year we could not hold an in-person raffle and fundraising event due to the pandemic since it was not safe to do so. This year we are pleased to announce that we will be holding an event on Saturday, September 25th at 5:00pm at Katch in Astoria, Queens. The event will be held outdoors, will happen rain or shine, and proof of COVID vaccination will be REQUIRED to attend.
We will have a ton of fun prizes too raffle off the day of the event which will wrap up at 7:00pm but with the option of sticking around to watch the game.
Over the past two years we have raised over $15,000 for charity and we hope to make it another great year. Given how the past year has gone we know money can be tight so simply spreading the word is also a great help. We greatly appreciate all of your support and participation in our Dollars For Dingers every year. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you.
Go Mets and let’s hit some dingers!
