Another loss for Syracuse,

Dropping them to 21 games below .500.

A

Mets

Comeback in late innings was

Only enough to make the game a

Little competitive but not

Enough to put Syracuse ahead.

Before the game today, Syracuse had a three-game winning streak going but that came to a

Rapid end in

Yesterday’s game in

Allantown.

Not every Syracuse player had a bad

Day.

A few had

Numerous hits

In fact.

Everyone will have Monday off to

Lick their wounds and then they will

Ship

Off to Buffalo for a series against the best team in the Triple-A North

Northeast division.

ROSTER ALERT: New York Mets optioned 2B Travis Blankenhorn to Syracuse Mets.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (46-53)

POSTPONED (COVID-19)

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (42-63)

BROOKLYN 6, WILMINGTON 1 (BOX)

The big Brooklyn bats came out swinging in the rubber game of their final series against the Blue Rocks. Francisco Alvarez got the party started with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first and Ronny Mauricio joined in a few innings later, clubbing a three-run blast in the seventh. Brooklyn pitchers Jose Chacin and Willy Taveras kept Wilmington off the board for most of the game, but Bryce Montes de Oca allowed a run to score in the ninth on a walk that eventually came home on a sac fly. Oh well, no harm, no foul.

Low-A: St. Lucie Mets (55-50)

JUPITER 7, ST. LUCIE 5 (BOX)

Coming into the afternoon having won 3 of 5 from the Jupiter Hammerheads and behind them in the standings by a half-game, St. Lucie immediately put four runs on the scoreboard in the top of the first. Fighting for their spot atop the Low-A Southeast East, the Hammerheads responded in the bottom of the inning by scoring three of their own. Clearly, with so much on the line, it seemed like this one was gonna be a slobberknocker. In reality, the game was more of a wet fart. The Hammerheads scored three more in the bottom of the second to take the lead, and that was pretty much it for the rest of the afternoon. They scored another run in the bottom of the fourth, as did St. Lucie, who scored another in the top of the seventh, but a slugathon with everything on the line, this did not develop into.

ROSTER ALERT: Jeremy Vasquez assigned to St. Lucie Mets from Brooklyn Cyclones.

ROSTER ALERT: New York Mets sent RHP Robert Gsellman on a rehab assignment to St. Lucie Mets.
