Meet the Mets

Both Steve Cohen and David Stearns recently flew to Japan to meet with Yoshinobu Yamamoto in an effort to showcase the Mets while the star gets ready to make his decision.

Yamamoto is a front-end starter that would immediately upgrade the Mets rotation and the front office is hoping to meet with him again when he travels the the United States to meet with other teams.

If the organization loses out on the ace they will have to pivot and find pitching elsewhere.

Scott Boras said Pete Alonso is open to signing an extension with the organization while Stearns again threw his support behind the first baseman.

Edwin Díaz says he is fully healthy and will be ready to go when spring training begins.

The Mets selected Justin Slaten from the Rangers in the Rule 5 Draft only to immediately trade him to the Red Sox in exchange for prospect Ryan Ammons.

The Braves reportedly signed utilityman Leury Garcia to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training.
