In a follow up to Brandon Nimmo’s MRI in New York today, the Mets have reported that he does not have any structural damage. He is currently suffering from inflammation in his neck and will rest for a few days. He was placed on the injured list today retroactive to May 21 today and looks to return on the 31.
With Cano’s quad injury in tonight’s game, the Mets depth looks to be shallow, so this is welcome news. This is the best case scenario from this situation especially when considering the current Mets outfield injury woes.
Hopefully with a few days of rest, Nimmo will be able to return to Mets. Nimmo has had a down year after his breakout performance last year hovering at the Mendoza line currently. He has said this injury has in part affected his performance this year, so it seems like some time for rest might do him some good.
