Last night, Pete Alonso won the Home Run Derby, defeating Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the final round to take home the title. In doing so, Alonso introduced himself on a national stage and presumably won over lots of new fans with his humble, joyful approach to the festivities.
To celebrate his victory, our friends over at BreakingT whipped up a new t-shirt:

I’D LIKE TO BUY THAT SHIRT, PLEASE
Alonso is also on the National League’s All-Star roster this year and figures to get some playing time in that game. On top of earning the derby title last night, he’s hit 30 home runs in the first “half” of the season with an excellent .280/.372/.634 line and a 161 wRC+. On top of being the clear lead candidate for the National League’s Rookie of the Year award, he’s currently ranked fourth in all of baseball in wRC+, trailing only Mike Trout, Cody Bellinger, and Christian Yelich in that metric.
