One of the best things about the Mets’ moves at the trade deadline was, well, a non-move. Despite having plenty of rumros out there about Noah Syndergaard, the team ultimately decided to hold on to him, which seemed like the logical thing to do all along. And Syndergaard happened to have one of his best starts of the year the night before the deadline, which couldn’t have hurt that cause.

Although he struggled earlier in the year, Syndergaard has been resurgent over the past few weeks, and he now has a 4.10 ERA and 3.47 FIP in 134.0 innings on the season. For the rest of this year, as the Mets try to make an improbable run at a Wild Card spot, and going into 2020, he remains a significant piece of the top of the Mets’ rotation.
